Freicoin on siis yksi vanhimmista altcoineista joka perustuu Bitcoiniin, mutta omaa kaksi ominaisuutta joita ei bitcoini sisällä (tai voi edes sisältää); Demurrage & Block Subsidy.
Block Subsidy siis tarkoittaa, että 80% louhituista rahayksiköistä menee Freicoin Foundationille (rekisteröity non-profit), joka sitten jakaa näitä tietyin ehdoin muille “common good” ja non-profit projekteille ja firmoille.
Demurrage on taas kulu rahan pitämiselle, eli aina kun uusi blokki louhitaan, jokaiselta tililtä tuhotoaan pieni osa coineista. Tuhotut coinit loudaan uudestaan louhimalla, jotta total coin supply pysyy samana.
